Pool - ZhanSnow

A pool floor of blue and pale grey tiles fills the whole picture, the checkerboard bending and swelling as if seen through moving water. Two koi swim across the middle, one orange and white, the other pale cream, and the small dark crosses where the tiles meet warp along with everything else.

Painted in oil, the tile grid drawn out by hand so the distortion comes from the drawing rather than from any blur. Zhan Snow is a Kazakh artist based in London, who works mainly in oils and explores emotion, nature and imagined worlds through expressive colour and dreamlike imagery. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
