Pink Rose - Kareem Rizk

A faded photograph of pink roses sits at the centre, with a pale blue circle laid over its lower half. Around it are a bright blue panel carrying torn fragments of large lettering, a coral rectangle, a block of fine orange stripes and a band of diagonal stripes along the top edge. The paper is creased and scuffed throughout.

Built as a collage of torn and cut paper, old print and painted shapes, layered so that every edge and worn surface stays visible. Kareem Rizk is an Australian collage and mixed media artist who lives and works in Denmark, building densely layered works from re-purposed printed ephemera, with a background in graphic design and a long-standing affinity for typography.
